Our dahlias
|
Originally introduced as a food source from Mexico, Dahlias were first exported to Europe in 1788 by Spanish explorers. It failed as a food crop as europeans found the taste too bitter. However, the dahlia survived because of the beauty of its flower and its easy hybridization. Today we have 19 kinds of flowers, cactus-style, ball anemone, etc. ... in a multitude of colors and different shades.
